Los Penasquitos Canyon

SoCal Vocal Experience's Take A Hike - Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail - SECOND ATTEMPT!

**Please notice the later start time.

Our first attempt at this trail was cancelled due to LOTS OF RAIN! We will be watching the weather closely as more rain is in the forecast and let you know in advance if we are cancelling or moving this hike to a different location!

Come join friends for a beautiful hike through Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail. This trail is a great hike for all ages and skill levels and has some incredible natural sights. Waterfalls, year-round streams, and creek crossings can be spotted throughout the trail. There is also plenty of wildlife to potentially observe.

Directions: Exit the 15 Freeway on Mira Mesa Blvd. Head west and make a right on Black Mountain Rd. Follow it north and take a left on Canyonside Park Driveway. Parking is available here at the end of the park on the right.

Parking: Parking is available in the park.

What to wear/bring: Wear layers for a potentially chilly start that can easily be shed once we get moving. Athletic/Trail shoes to protect your feet. Water to carry for yourself, trail snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat or whatever you prefer to protect your head and face from the sun.

We will meet at the trailhead at 8:00am and get started at 8:15am.

Double Peak Trail

SoCal Vocal Experience's Take A Hike - Double Peak Trail

AllTrails describes this hike as a 3.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near San Marcos, California that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. We will be starting at Lakeview Park in San Marcos.

Parking: The small lot will fill up fast so plan on finding street parking.

What to wear/Bring: Wear layers for a potentially chilly start that can easily be shed once we get moving. Athletic/Trail shoes to protect your feet. Water to carry for yourself, trail snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat or whatever you prefer to protect your head and face from the sun. This trail doesn't have a ton of coverage from the sun!

We will meat in the park at 6:45am and get started at 7:00am.

Oak Canyon Trail

SoCal Vocal Experience's Take A Hike - Oak Canyon in Mission Trails

Come join friends for a beautiful hike through Oak Canyon Trail in Mission Trails. Starting at the Old Mission Dam, this is an easy to moderate hike that is suitable for all ages, and it is only 1.5 miles one way, or three (3) miles round-trip, with minimal elevation gain.

Parking: There is a parking area at the Old Mission Dam, however, Father Junipero Serra Trail Road opens at 8am. We recommend parking in the Mission Trails Parking Lot near the campground on Father Junipero Serra Trail Road and Bushy Hills Dr or street parking. **The address above will take you to the corner where the campground parking lot is located.

What to wear/bring: Wear layers for a potentially chilly start that can easily be shed once we get moving. Athletic/Trail shoes to protect your feet. Water to carry for yourself, trail snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat or whatever you prefer to protect your head and face from the sun.

Tecolote Canyon

SoCal Vocal Experience's Take A Hike - Tecolote Canyon

Come join friends for a "Choose Your Own Distance" hike through Tecolote Canyon. This lovely out-and-back trail makes it easy to enjoy as much or as little of this trail as you want. We will be taking the trail all the way up to Genesee for roughly 7 miles round-trip.

Parking: Ample parking available in lots close to the trailhead by the Tecolote Canyon Natural Park and Nature Center.
